Reva Volunteer Fire & Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of life and property from fire or disaster. We are a full service company providing fire protection and prevention as well as providing emergency medical services from a team of highly trained personnel.
The life blood of any organization are its members. Our members form the backbone of this company, all working together to provide service to our community. Although each fire and rescue company mainly services its own assigned area, Reva Volunteer Fire & Rescue is proud of the fact that we are able to help the Town of Culpeper and Madison County as well. In fact, approximately three quarters of the calls answered each month are in areas other than Reva. If you already have training in Emergency Services (fire and/or rescue), we would love to have you join our ranks. If you are interested in training for such a position, please come talk to us.
Most people think that they can only be of service to an organization like ours if they are trained in fire or rescue operations. Although it is true we are in need of these people, it takes many people behind the scenes to help run an organization as large as this. Since we raise funds to help support operations, we need people who can help with the many fund-raising events held here. Our main fund raiser is BINGO but we also have several other fundraisers throughout the year and we are always in need of help. The money raised helps keep this organization running on a daily basis and helps purchase the equipment we need to protect the community. You can help. Please fill out an application. We can’t think of a better way to meet new people, make new friends and begin your journey towards one of the most rewarding and fulfilling ways to spend your free time.
Active Fire/Rescue Membership
Active Fire/Rescue members participate in the direct delivery of emergency services. You must be 16 years of age for fire suppression and 18 years of age for rescue. If you require training for these positions you will be notified when classes become available. Until the time you are fully trained, there are many duties around the station that you can perform that will help increase your knowledge even prior to formal classroom training. Once you become a trained member there is a minimum 24 hour per month duty requirement for rescue and a minimum 20% response to fire calls for firefighters.
Active Support Membership
Active Support Members participate in company support and fundraising activities. Junior members in this category must be at least 12 years of age. Without our support members we could not provide the services we do. They are the people who help raise the funds to support our organization. How do we do this? Our main fundraiser is BINGO on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM. Help is always needed for this event. We have a kitchen that serves dinner on BINGO nights as well as catering dinners for events held in our hall. If you can bake a cake or like to cook, we have a place for you!
Some of our past fundraisers included dinners to celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, our annual Fall Festival and Breakfast with Santa. Support members are also active on the many Committees as well as serving as officers of the Company. We are always looking for people with backgrounds in business, accounting or secretarial services. If you are an artist or good at marketing, we have a job for you. Requirements for support members are a mere 48 hours of service per year. Although there are minimum age requirements, there is no maximum age requirement.
